This new combined vehicle will be used to carry and transport the south-eastern regional Major Emergency Management Pod serving Counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford. The pod contains the On-Site Coordination tent and supporting equipment to provide the three principal response agencies their location to coordinate the management of a Major Emergency. This pod is deployed using a Prime Mover hydraulic hook arm mounted on the rear of the vehicle cab. The vehicle is also equipped with a hydraulic Hiab crane and carries a Flat Bed via the Prime Mover hydraulic hook arm for logistical support of the Hacketstown Training &amp; Development Centre transporting materials for use in the training centre e.g. timber pallets and end of life vehicles for training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second vehicle launched is a Renault Master E-Van, 100%, the very first 100% Electric Vehicle to join Carlow County Fire &amp; Rescue Service\u2019s fleet and will be used as logistical support for the Hacketstown Training &amp; Development centre transporting materials to support the training centre activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carlow County Fire &amp; Rescue Service A\/Chief Fire Officer: \u2018I\u2019m very grateful to the National Directorate for Fire &amp; Emergency Management for the capital funding support of both of these vehicles. These vehicles demonstrate our commitment to Climate Change and to our local environment by further reducing our carbon emissions while improving local air quality serving a multitude of roles for our training centre at Hacketstown and in the event of Major Emergencies within the South East of the country. The two new vehicles will also continue to maintain the highest quality in terms of modernisation of our fleet and safety features for our firefighters through modern day vehicle technology.
